Aegean Shipping became the first "paperless" company in Piraeus, investing in high tech office equipment for its easier implementation. The paperless project aims to reduce our paper usage and carbon footprint  through content management and imaging technologies. Management research estimates that by avoiding printing in the office alone, Aegean Shipping saves 340,000 pages of paper per year.

In a further move to reduce our CO2 footprint, Aegean replaced all light bulbs in its 9-story headquarters in Piraeus with ultra-efficient LED bulbs. LED bulbs are recognized for reducing CO2 emissions, last a whopping 40,000 hours compared to some 1000 hours of an incandescent bulb, consume less electricity, and improve employee health (no mercury in LED bulbs). Furthermore, Aegean has installed sensors in roughly 10,000 square meters of space in HQ (accommodating almost 250 employees) so that lighting is on only when in actual use, adding up to 70-90% savings (both emissions & cost).

Aegean Shipping Management has deigned and implemented an environmentally friendly Information System. This system is a Cloud Computing based system, combining security and green IT technologies. All typical workstations that were equipped with 300W-400W power supplies, have been replaced with zero client technology terminals (3.5W power supplies).
