New Year’s Pitta Cutting at Aegean Oil in Alexandroupolis

23 February 2015

On Valentine’s day, February 14, 2015, the Aegean Oil office in Alexandroupolis hosted its annual New Year’s Vassilopita celebration.
The entire Alexandroupolis staff, along with their spouses, as well as Aegean associates from EKO and BP attended the event, which took place as every year at a local taverna. The general manager of Aegean Oil, Konstantinos Poursanidis and his wife Maria also attended the event.
The director of the office, Ioannis Pistolas, cut the Vassilopita and distributed the pieces among the guests; Aegean Oil was the winner of the coin hidden within. Following a draw, the Aegean inspector of the prefecture of Thrace, Stilianos Stefanidis, won a set of coupons for free fuel at Aegean service stations.
In Greece, the cutting and sharing of the Vassilopita, a New Year’s cake, is the traditional manner to greet the New Year. In addition, the Vassilopita get-togethers strengthen the already very good relations between employees and the partners of the office, as well as among their families. The guests had the chance to dance to the rhythm of the taverna’s live band, and have fun playing dress-up, as the event coincided with the Saturday of the Souls before the Sunday of the Carnival.
The pleasant evening ended with happy memories and with everyone's wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year to All!
