Posidonia Moments

11 June 2014

Posidonia 2014, one of the world’s greatest shipping and maritime events, concluded on June 6 in Athens, following five days of one-on-one meetings and networking, seminars, conferences and, yes, parties. It is estimated that more than 20,000 visitors attended the event, sponsored by the Greek Ministry of Shipping, Maritime Affairs and the Aegean, the Municipality of Piraeus, the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, the Union of Greek Shipowners, The Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee, the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association, and the Association of Passenger Shipping Companies.

Aegean and the Hellenic Environment Center (HEC) were present with two impressive stands, which thousands of delegates visited, speaking to company representatives, discussing ongoing agreements and potential partnerships.

Aegean and Lloyd’s Register enjoyed success in one of the leading off-site exhibition events and placed second in the Posidonia Regatta with their entry, Acool Turabi.

Aegean also hosted one the most popular Posidonia parties held during the biannual gathering of the global shipping community. Thousands of guests joined the Aegean family at Balux, a seaside resort club on the Athenian Riviera, where they listened to Antonis Remos and Pantelis Pantelidis, watched a synchronized swimming show, a balloon-lofted acrobat, enjoyed a seaside buffet, and toasted each other well into the wee hours.

Aegean wishes all visitors to Posidonia 2014 continued success throughout the coming two years and looks forward to Posidonia 2016.
